The Newham Classic 10k Run

British Judo staff members are getting their running shoes on once again to raise money for the British Judo Trust in the Newham Classic 10k run on the 18th April 2010.

Last time the team of Chairman Densign White, CEO Scott McCarthy, James Sills, Nicola Turner and Daniel Griffin from Head Office managed to raise an impressive £1000 for the kitty.

Densign will once again be heading up the team and wants to raise as much money as possible.

You could also join the team and raise money for the Trust by registering for the race online at http://regonline.activeeurope.com/Checkin.asp?EventId=787928 and have an exclusive peek at the Olympic Park during the race.

If you would like to sponsor the team, on their quest to beat the total raised last year, please contact Nicola Turner on nicola.turner@britishjudo.org.uk or call her on 01509 631692.

Keep an eye out on the website for updates on how much is being raised and what crazy stunts the team will be pulling on the day!

May Madness – Get your Club fundraising!

Make Sure Your Club Doesn’t Miss Out on May Madness 2010! The opportunity to raise money for the British Judo Trust and your club all at the same time!

May Madness is back, a fund raising opportunity for your club not to be missed.

One of the British Judo Trust’s annual fundraising activities is a themed fundraising month for judo clubs.

The British Judo Trust makes this fundraising initiative as easy as possible for clubs to run, raising money for the Trust and the club at the same time! As soon as you decide that you would like to raise extra funds for your club and help the Trust, we will provide you with everything you will need, so it won’t take up a lot of your valuable time.

So any Club that organises a fundraising day or activity as part May Madness 2010 will keep 50% of the total amount of money raised by their club. The other half of the money raised will go to the British Judo Trust, to the benefit of the sport across the UK as a whole.

In 2009, May Madness raised just over £5000, and this year we want to double it, but we need your support! Some of the sponsored events included:

Sponsored throws

Superstars event

Sponsored fun runs

Fun Days

Fight Nights

Judo Taster Evenings

What will your Club choose to do this year? Getting involved is really straightforward – the process is as follows:

  • Send an email to info@britishjudotrust.org.uk to register your interest and to request a fundraising pack or contact Emma Davies-Carolan on 01509 631693
  • Once you receive your pack, use the information enclosed to help you decide on a fundraising activity, a date and a location
  • Use the templates provided in the pack to promote your fundraising activity within your Club, in your local area and on the British Judo Trust website
  • Have fun whilst raising money for your Club and for judo in the UK!

Extra Incentives!

As an incentive for clubs to get involved, we are offering a VIP box at the 2010 GB Women’s Judo World Cup to the club that raises the most money (terms and conditions will apply), to the second highest fundraising club, the Chairman of the British Judo Association Densign White will take a club session (terms and conditions will apply).

Who will be the ones to challenge Holbrook Judo Club who have dominated the May Madness fundraising by winning the special prize for the last three years?

Other Events

Further events will be held throughout the year.  If you or your club would like to get involved in any other fundraising activities or initiatives then please let us know by sending an email to info@britishjudotrust.org.uk

As the British Judo Trust becomes more established, applications for additional funds will be made to other charitable trusts and foundations when appropriate.  The Trust will also look to promote the benefits of judo on a wider basis and solicit donations from wider sources.
